FAÇADE CONSTRUCTION

Exposed concrete

A new exhibition and office building is to be built for an ambitious concrete construction company. A system design

is available, now the appearance should be developed on a given grid

and advertise the façade for the company down to the last detail with an attractive appearance.

On the two-storey ground floor, a showroom with exhibition areas is to be accommodated on one gallery level and offices in two

floors above.

The main facade is in view, section

and to develop floor plans and to work them out in detail.

The area of the building to be worked on faces south.

The facade is planned as a curtain-type, ventilated facade. it consists of

Dark gray pigmented precast concrete parts whose surface is produced with a textured formliner.

The facade elements are attached to the load-bearing outer walls of the building using facade panel anchors.

The facade grid of 1.35m is based on a construction grid with spans of 5.40m.

The precast concrete parts are about 30cm thick and taper to about 15cm in the area of the windows. The façade appears lively thanks to the interplay of the different widths and thicknesses of the concrete elements. The elements, which appear to be randomly arranged at first glance, are based on a recurring sequence.
