XS LIVING: GREEN CANYON, NUREMBERG

Preliminary draft

In a vacant lot in the Galgenhof district of Nuremberg, high-quality apartments are to be built in the form of micro-apartments.
The area around the property is densely built. Mainly block development can be found here. Basically, it can be said that there is a lack of play and color on the facades and the area looks rather bare. It is noticeable along Tafelfeldstrasse that there are mostly cafes or small shops on the ground floor of the building. The property is very well connected to the local public transport network.
The planned residential building splits in the middle and thus forms a gorge, the "canyon". This gorge is to be planted and the subject of "urban gardening" is to be taken up.
Each apartment consists of a prefabricated box. These boxes are stacked on top of each other. The receding structure of the building creates large terraces that are to be planted.
There is a reading café on the ground floor on both sides. The open stairwell, which is centrally located between the building parts and thus enables their development, plays a central and overriding role. When you go up the stairs you walk along the apartments and terraces. The building borders on neighboring buildings in the north and south, so that only an east-west exposure is possible and can be seen. Windows between the two parts of the building are not used to protect the residents' privacy and for reasons of fire protection.
